Currency and costs

How ownership is transferred

A sale transfers ownership only once it is registered with the Lands and Properties Sector of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality. That office issues the title deed, so registration is the step that makes you the owner.

Safeguards when buying off-plan

A developer must be registered with the municipality's Real Estate Regulatory Administration and hold an off-plan sale permit before selling units. Buyers pay into a project escrow account, which the developer must open with a trustee registered with that administration. Every off-plan sale must also be recorded in the municipality's initial land register, and a sale that is not recorded is void. We look at these points with you before you reserve a unit.
